Maj. Gen. Terry Ferrell

Maj. Gen. Terry R. Ferrell assumed command of the 7th Infantry Division on 4 February 2014. The 7th Infantry Division is responsible for the training, deployment readiness, and health and welfare of over 15,000 Soldiers in seven Brigades; 2 ID DIVARTY, 2-2 SBCT, 3-2 SBCT, 16th CAB, 17th FAB, 555th EN, and 201st BFSB located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Maj. Gen. Terry R. Ferrell was commissioned as an Armor Officer in 1984 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Marshall University. His military schooling includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Counseling and Rehabilitation from Marshall University, a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Maj. Gen. Ferrell’s assignments include Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, Camp Casey, Korea; Company Executive Officer and Battalion S4, Fort Hood, Texas; Tank Company Commander and Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander, Baumholder, Germany; Observer-Controller on the Scorpion (Mechanized Infantry) team at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California; Officer Advanced Course Small Group Instructor in the Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia; Squadron S3, Regimental S3, and Regimental Executive Officer of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado; Commander of 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Operations Officer, J3, United States Northern Command, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Commander, 2d Brigade Combat Team and Chief of Staff, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Assistant Division Commander for Support, then Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 2d Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud and Camp Casey, Korea, and Commander, the National Training Center and Fort Irwin, Fort Irwin, California. His most recent experience was as Commander, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa in Djibouti, Africa.
Maj. Gen. Ferrell’s deployment experience includes: Stabilization Force V (Bosnia) as XO, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment and Deputy Chief of Staff, 49th Armored Division; Stabilization Force VII (Bosnia) and Operation Iraqi Freedom as Commander, 3d Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division; Operation Iraqi Freedom V as Commander, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 3d Infantry Division; and Operation Enduring Freedom as Commander, CJTF-HOA.
