Training Area Patrol

The Training Area Patrol Section (TAPS) is responsible for all the area which is considered outside the main cantonment area of Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).  This area includes approximately 88,000 square acres of forested lands as well as major roads leading into and through JBLM property.

The section investigates and enforces a wide array of crimes against JBLM to include conservation laws, hunting and fishing regulations, traffic offences, and access regulations.  TAPS is also the lead in Search and Rescue (SAR) missions to locate both military and civilian personnel who are missing.

During the warmer months when the lakes are heavily populated the section is responsible for the operation the JBLM Patrol Boat and monitors and enforces boating regulation on American Lake and assists Lakewood Police Department with regulation and law enforcement as well as rendering aid anytime it is needed.

If you are out in the training area and see one of us please feel free to stop us and ask any questions that you might have and express any concerns.  If you see a violation or another emergency situation please call 911 immediately.  If you want to report something of a less emergent or routine nature, please send the section an email.  We will contact you within 24-48 hours either with a resolution or to obtain further information.  In your message please include a good day and evening contact number so that one of our officers can get a hold of you.  Email: mailto:usarmy.jblm.imcom.list.des-le-group@mail.mil

Our office number is 253-966-9491.  If no one is there its because we are in the woods, please leave a detailed message and a contact number.  Our duty cell numbers are 253-307-8215/253-278-4290.  Again we might be in an area without cell coverage so please leave a message.  Another number you can contact is our dispatch center 253-912-4442.

Here in the section the motto is: If you are out there we will find you.
