REQUIREMENTS FOR TESTING
For AD, ARNG, and USAR personnel, a DA form 4187 (Personnel Action) must be signed by the unit commander or authorized representative and submitted to the STC not later then 2 working days prior to the test date. Other services must contact the STC for documentation requirements. AD, ARNG, or USAR personnel on TDY status to Joint Base Lewis-McChord need only submit a copy of their TDY orders to the STC when requesting a test. All military personnel requesting to be tested must be present 10 minuets prior to the test time with a valid military identification card, no exceptions. All testing must be scheduled. Walk-ins or standbys are not accepted.

Eligibility for Testing
US army Active Duty (AD), US Army National Guard (ARNG), and US Army Reserve (USAR) Personnel. Sister services personnel may be tested in some tests upon approval from their higher headquarters. Sister services personnel must contact this office for further guidance. Civilian personnel may be tested when applying for a government job for which a language is a qualification requirement or Department of Defense (DOD) authorizes Foreign Language Proficiency Pay for DOD employees. Contact this office for requirements.

ACE Credit for Foreign Language Proficiency Testing
For receiving a 0+/0+ or higher on a DLPT III or DLPT IV test you are eligible to earn college credit. The higher you score the more credits from ACES

Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)   TABE is used primarily for placement in the Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) classes, and is also required for some service schools. The test measures competencies in reading, mathematics and language.  Soldiers who wish to use Tuition Assistance who have a GT score of less than 100 may be asked to take the TABE to provide the counselor with a better idea of the Soldier's preparedness to be successful in College Courses.

Functional Academic Skills Testing (FAST)/Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP)   The FAST program consists of two phases. The first phase is open entry, meaning that a Soldier can enter the program any day Monday-Friday and attend from 0900-1230 or from 1300-1630. Because mission is first, this open entry program works well for both the Soldier and the unit. The second phase of the program, called GT Prep, is a two-week all day training from 0900-1200 and 1300-1600. Upon completion of GT Prep, the Soldier should be ready for the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT)
