NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY: Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Real Property Master Plan (RPMP) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Washington

The U.S. Department of the Army announces the availability for public review of the draft EA that examines the potential environmental effects of adopting the RPMP, including the Installation Development Plan, Installation Planning Standards, Capital Investment Strategy, 2015 Air Installation Compatible Use Zone Study Update, and the Installation Operational Noise Management Plan. The RPMP sets forth long-term strategies to guide the physical development of the cantonment areas of JBLM and the Yakima Training Center (YTC) over the next 50 years. The draft EA is a programmatic analysis of the environmental impacts of the components of the RPMP; which includes an assessment of existing best management practices, standard operating procedures, and mitigation measures. Training is not covered in this EA but is captured in JBLM's Range Complex Master Plan. The Proposed Action is to adopt the RPMP as a framework for development that fullls today’s needs and mission requirements and allows installation planners to accommodate tomorrow’s changes sustainably. The Proposed Action – the adoption of the RPMP –is needed to address the complexities involved in achieving JBLM’s current mission (including at the YTC) and satisfying the requirements for development over the next 50 years. The draft EA is available online for public review and comment at:  http://www.lewis-mcchord.army.mil/publicworks/sites/envir/eia.aspx
