CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW EVERGREEN SCHOOL AT LEWIS MAIN, JBLM

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Clover Park School District (CPSD) has requested approval from the Department of the Army for their proposal to construct a new Evergreen school on Lewis Main, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. As part of the proposed action, the Army would enter into a long term lease with CPSD for use of approximately 12 acres of land, for construction of the new school.

The proposed action is needed because the existing Evergreen school (constructed in 1990) does not fit the needs of the school’s educational programs and is having considerable mechanical issues. CPSD is seeking grant funding from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment to go with partial funding of its own to build a state-of-the-art facility. The proposed action will include the clearing and grading of approximately 12 acres, the construction of a two story building, ball fields and play areas, parking lots and drop zones, and all other associated construction.

An Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact have been prepared for this action and are now available for public review and comment. These documents and related information can be found at:
