About Reporting Illegal Dumping

This page is designed to educate and request support in the prevention of illegal dumping on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Dumping or abandonment of refuse or materials on Joint Base Lewis-McChord costs the installation and us as taxpayers in excess of $500,000 per year. The current semi-annual clean up program negatively impacts the training of our Service Members.

Illegal Dumping Definition

Illegal dumping is defined as the improper disposal of
waste on Joint Base Lewis-McChord and includes:

  • Littering
  • Dumping household garbage in the training areas
  • Dumping construction materials in the training areas
  • Abandoning junk - vehicles, boats, equipment appliances, anywhere on Joint Base Lewis-McChord
  • Bringing off-post household garbage and placing it in Joint Base Lewis-McChord dumpsters
  • Dumping housing area garbage in Joint Base Lewis-McChord dumpsters
  • Placing furniture into dumpsters
  • Improper disposal of recyclable materials in dumpsters
  • Improper disposal of hazardous materials in dumpsters

When Reporting Illegal...

When reporting illegal dumping the following information would be helpful

  • Give the location of the dumping,
  • Type of trash and a brief description if possible.
  • You can remain anonymous or you can leave a name and phone number.

Together we can stop the littering and dumping and make Joint Base Lewis-McChord a better place to train, work and live.
