Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the Army-approved intervention training for Gatekeepers

  • Two-Day ASIST:  Gatekeepers will attend a two (2) day training session to obtain additional identification and intervention skills.  The two-day ASIST workshops are coordinated locally and taught by ASIST certified training personnel.
  • ASIST Is Advanced Suicide Prevention Training And Is Required For Gatekeepers, As Defined In AR 600-63, Para. 4-4 - (J) - (4). Senior Commanders, In Conjunction with Garrison Commanders Select Categories Of Gatekeepers To Be Trained From The Examples Listed In Table 4-1 Based On The Needs Of The Post, Camp, Or Station. Commanders Are Responsible For Annually Identifying And Submitting Requirements To The Local SPPM Through Quarterly Reports For ASIST Training Materials Based On The Number Of Soldiers Or Army Civilians, Who Have Not Received Training Via Local SPPM.

  • Five-Day ASIST Train the Trainer:  ASIST T4T is additional training available which equips personnel with the ability to train ASIST. ASIST T4T certification requires the individual to complete a five-day course and conduct three (3) ASIST 2-day classes within the first year and one (1) for each year thereafter.  The five-day workshops are coordinated through Suicide Prevention Program Managers (SPPM).  Individuals who complete the five-day class and conduct three 2-Day ASIST classes within the first year receive an additional skill identifier.  Information on ASIST training is available through the LivingWorks website:  www.livingworks.net.
